Fassbind distillery from Oberarth in the canton of Schwyz has been in existence since 1846, and just ten years later Napoléon III awarded it the gold medal for its products at the Paris World’s Fair. At the time, this was the highest distinction a distillery could achieve. Like all Fassbind products, Vieille Poire is also distilled from regional fruit. The product is then aged in barrels for at least one year and receives another infusion of Williams pear extracts before bottling. The pear dominates on the nose, while the palate also reveals slightly peppery notes. A very long, aromatic and fruity finish.
