USZIT – The beer with its own forest

For every USZIT can sold, 5 centimes go towards protecting the Swiss forest. This makes USZIT more than just a beer – it is a genuine commitment to nature.

Together for the Swiss forest

USZIT supports various forest projects dedicated to preserving and maintaining our native forests. Now the commitment is going even further: The USZIT forest is growing.

In the Ursern Valley (UR), a new, nature-friendly forest is being created thanks to a partnership with the association «Wald & Klima Ursern». The high valley near Andermatt has been below-average in forest cover until now – that is set to change.

Reforestation in the Alps

With 30,000 francs, USZIT is supporting reforestation in the Ursern Valley. On an area of 3.5 hectares, around 1,450 metres above sea level, the USZIT forest is taking shape – directly visible from the main road and the Andermatt golf course, crossed by a hiking trail.

In the lower area, rowan trees and individual mountain maples are already growing. In addition, new trees were planted in 2023.

Over the next three to four years, 6,000 to 8,000 trees will be planted – including spruces, larches, Swiss stone pines, mountain pines, silver firs and mountain maples. All robust species that have proven themselves in the Uri mountain region.

Switzerland’s first beer forest

Pascal Heiniger (34), forester at the «Wald & Klima Ursern» association, tends Switzerland’s first beer forest with great passion. In the video format «Frag den USZIT-Forstwart», he answers questions about the Swiss forest in an entertaining way – important or less so.

USZIT supports further forest projects
