DIY Beer Advent Calendar in a Wooden Crate
Looking for a simple yet beautiful homemade advent calendar? Then turn a wooden crate into your own beer advent calendar! With 24 selected beers, some decoration and pretty packaging, it becomes a personal gift for any beer fan.
What You Need
- Wooden crate — find it here. Alternatively, a sturdy box works too.
- 24 beers — find a variety of beers in the Feldschlösschen Getränkeshop.
- Numbers 1–24 (stickers or small tags)
- Decoration: ribbons, branches, paint, stickers
- Paper bags or small fabric pouches for each bottle
How to Do It, Step by Step
1. Choose 24 Beers
Mix classics, seasonal specialities and new varieties. This way, every day in December becomes a little surprise.
2. Prepare the Wooden Crate
Line the crate with fabric scraps, wood wool or fir branches for a festive touch.
3. Prepare the Packaging
You can wrap the bottles in gift paper or paper bags — or sew small fabric pouches yourself.
Mini Sewing Tutorial for Fabric Pouches (super simple):
- Cut a rectangle of fabric (approx. 30 × 20 cm).
- Fold it in half lengthwise.
- Sew the two long sides together.
- Fold the top over twice and sew it — this creates a drawstring channel.
- Thread a cord through — done!
Paper Bag Variant (no sewing required):
- Place the bottle in a kraft paper bag.
- Fold the top, punch a hole and tie with string.
4. Number Them
Stick a number from 1 to 24 onto each package.
5. Pack It All Up
Place the wrapped, numbered beers into the crate. Make sure they stand securely — and decorate the crate further as you like.
